OREANDA-NEWS. Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg intends to gain the support of influential sponsors in the fight for the US presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, but refuses to accept donations from them. This was announced on Thursday by the American television channel, citing its own sources.
According to them, Bloomberg set out a campaign plan on December 19 at a closed meeting with 90 entrepreneurs, including the leaders of New York private companies. Among them are investor Blair Effron, member of the management of Blackstone investment group Jonathan Gray, real estate tycoon William Rudin, founder of Signum Global consulting company Charles Myers and wife of Ken Chenolt, the former director of the American Express cashless payments system. A number of participants in the meeting support other candidates for the United States Democratic candidate. Effron, for example, recently announced a decision to sponsor former US Vice President Joseph Biden.
According to the publication, billionaire Bloomberg assured entrepreneurs that he intends to finance his campaign at his own expense. At the same time, he expressed interest in the fact that representatives of large business would support him with their influence primarily in the entrepreneurial community.
