Bloomberg Has Revised Its Article after a Statement by Russian Embassy
OREANDA-NEWS. Bloomberg agency made a revision of its material after the Russian Embassy in the United States demanded a refutation of the information set forth in the article.
Earlier, Bloomberg released a material that spoke about the unpreparedness of the Russian healthcare system for the coronavirus epidemic. In particular, the article cited World Bank’s data on the number of hospital beds per 1 thousand people in Russia and in the countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in 2013. Initially, the chart on the agency’s website showed that there were 3.8 beds per 1 thousand people in Russia, and 8.2 in the OECD.
The Russian Embassy in Washington drew attention to this information. The diplomatic mission reported on Facebook that Bloomberg editors had swapped graphics. Diplomats provided links to the source, the World Bank’s website. They demanded a refutation and apologies from Bloomberg.
Now the material indicates that it has been corrected. Signatures in the chart were changed. Now it demonstrates that there are 8.2 hospital beds per 1 thousand people in Russia, and 3.8 in the OECD.
