OREANDA-NEWS. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko believes, that Minsk and Moscow should not react to Western sanctions. «Everyone is trying to scare Russia, as well as us, with some sanctions. I'm from the Soviet era. I know, what gosplan is, as planned. I figured, oh, my God, why are we so excited? We can calculate everything and fully provide for ourselves», the head of Belarus said.
The President stressed, that the goods, that will be difficult to access due to the sanctions will be produced in Russia and Belarus within three or five years. Lukashenko said, that he does not intend to ask his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for money during his planned visit to Russia. This is reported by the «BelTA» news agency. Thus, the Belarusian leader commented on the rumors about Minsk's plans to ask Moscow for a loan of $3 billion. He said, that he initially agreed with Russian leader, that he would meet with him in the third decade of February.
Sanctions against Belarus were imposed after the suppression of peaceful protests, the participants of which do not agree with the results of the presidential election. Russia is threatened with sanctions over the arrest of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
