The inauguration of Alexander Lukashenko as President of Belarus, held in Minsk on September 23, was nothing but “special operation,” Pavel Latushko, a member of the Presidium of the Coordination Council of the country’s opposition, said. In his opinion, after the ceremony, held “in an atmosphere of secrecy, in a narrow circle of hastily brought officials,” Lukashenko ceased to be a legitimate head of state and the response to this should be an action of disobedience. “We will never accept falsification and demand new elections! We call on everyone to start an indefinite action of disobedience!” Latushko wrote on his Telegram channel.

Earlier, representatives of the opposition of Belarus, who did not agree with the results of the presidential election, created the Coordination Council for Power Transit. They consider Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to be the elected leader and demand the appointment of new election. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus, in connection with the creation of the Council, opened a criminal case on calls to seize power. To date, five of the seven members of the Coordination Council Presidium have been arrested or left abroad. Tsihanouskaya left for Lithuania; Latushko left for Poland.
