Belarusian Media Reported of the Detention of Riot Coordinators
OREANDA-NEWS. The Belarusian state news agency BelTA informed without citing a source that coordinators of mass riots were detained in Minsk. According to BelTA, one of the detainees “controlled the actions of three subordinates.” They, in turn, “led hundreds of people.”
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported of the arrest of a man who allegedly paid money for participating in the protest actions. According to the agency, he resisted militia officers during detention, and more than 10 thousand US dollars was found in his backpack.
By the morning of August 12, militia and other power structures had left the streets of Minsk, and the cordon was removed. Traffic on the main highways was restored.
After a three-day break, the mobile Internet started working without interruption. Instant messengers and social networks began to work; it became possible to open foreign sites without obstacles.
