At Least 27 People Were Injured during Protests in Tbilisi
OREANDA-NEWS. During a rally against the results of the parliamentary election near the building of the Election Administration of Georgia in Tbilisi, at least 27 people were injured. This was reported on November 9 by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Kakhaber Sabanadze.
“During the action, 14 law enforcement officers, 3 media representatives and up to 10 participants in the action were injured… Some of the victims were given first aid on the spot, and some were taken to clinics,” TASS new agency quotes him.
The politician added that the police detained 19 people for violating public order and insubordination to law enforcement officers.
On November 8, citizens who disagreed with the results of the parliamentary election gathered near the Election Administration building in Tbilisi. Security officers began to disperse the protesters with water cannons, and used tear gas. In addition, shots were heard. In response, manifestants began throwing stones at officers.
Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on October 31. The ruling party Georgian Dream won with 48.15 % of votes. After that, protest actions began in the country.
