Vladimir Putin Had Telephone Conversation with Barack Obama
OREANDA-NEWS. Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the United States Barack Obama on the American side’s initiative.
In particular, the leaders discussed issues of intensifying cooperation between special services in the context of the Boston bombing. The Presidents reached a practical agreement on active contacts between special services and their senior officers. Barack Obama also thanked Vladimir Putin for previously supplied information, which proved to be very helpful. Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama also stressed the importance of joint efforts to assure security during the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.
The leaders of Russia and the US discussed the situation in Syria. The Presidents expressed their readiness to take all possible measures to settle the Syrian crisis. Emphasis was given to the importance of US Secretary of State John Kerry and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s constant contact and their efforts to develop joint steps to settle the situation in Syria.
Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama confirmed their agreement to meet this year at the G8 summit in mid-June and during the President of the United States’ visit to St Petersburg prior to the G20 summit. Earlier, Mr Putin had invited Barack Obama to visit Russia.
In addition, the conversation addressed Barack Obama’s letter to the President of Russia. Russia’s Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev will deliver Vladimir Putin’s reply to the President of the US in Washington.
