Russian-Chilean Partnership Agreement Sent to State Duma
OREANDA-NEWS. February 17, 2012. Dmitry Medvedev submitted to the State Duma for ratification the Agreement on Partnership Relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Chile, signed in Yokohama on November 13, 2010.
The agreement is a framework document aimed at developing long-term mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the political, trade and economic, cultural, legal, science and technology, and other areas based on universal principles and norms of international law.
The agreement lays the foundations for integration between the Russian Federation and the Rio Group, and between the Russian Federation and the Union of South American Nations.
It also lays the legal foundations for cooperation between the parties’ relevant agencies in areas such as fighting international terrorism, including financing of terrorism, cross-border organised crime, and arms and drug trafficking.
The agreement provides for coordination between the two countries in trade economic and financial international organisations in the interests of promoting economic growth and sustainable development in both countries and efforts to find solutions to global environmental problems.
