Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Discussed Prospects of Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. January 30, 2012. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov had a telephone conversation.
Cordially greeting each other, the leaders of the two states expressed satisfaction with an opportunity to discuss important aspects of interstate cooperation that met the interests of the two brotherly peoples bound with spiritual and historical affinities from ancient times.
During the telephone conversation President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Islam Karimov discussed the current state and prospects of the Turkmen-Uzbek dialogue that successfully developed on the bi- and multi-lateral basis and the issues of international and regional politics of mutual interest.
Underlining the businesslike nature of long-term successful partnership and the existing tremendous potential to intensify it, the sides focused on the mutual willingness to step up fruitful cooperation in the whole spectrum of fields within regional cooperation as well. In this regard emphasis was placed on such an urgent challenge as the Aral Sea crisis that requires an immediate and concerted decision.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished the fruitful work to Uzbekistan as the Chair of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea for the next three years.
Thanking for the kind words, the President of Uzbekistan noted that the presidential election campaign was taking place in Turkmenistan these days and wished every success in holding this important social and political action.
Reaffirming that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan stood ready to intensify the traditional interstate dialogue and fill it with a new content, the leaders of the two states expressed belief that Turkmen-Uzbek good neighbourly relations and constructive partnership built on a long-term mutually beneficial basis would enhance further.
In conclusion President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Islam Karimov exchanged the best wishes and wished peace, stability and prosperity to the two brotherly nations.
