Lukashenko and Medvedev Discuss Cooperation Prospects
OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2012. President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has left to the Russian Federation for a working visit, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian head of state. Alexander Lukashenko met with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in Krasnaya Polyana on 23 January.
The presidents discussed Belarus-Russia cooperation prospects, including trade and economic relations, the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the Single Economic Space, joint response to modern challenges and threats and other issues of the bilateral and international agenda. The Belarusian President emphasized that the dialogue between the leaders of the two countries helped address a number of crucial issues of the bilateral relations in late 2011, including those in power engineering.
Belarus is willing to maintain and expand the constructive dialogue to implement new landmark high-level agreements. The President of Belarus is set to meet with Russian politicians and businessmen during his trip. Alexander Lukashenko will combine the working visit with a short-term vacation in Sochi.
