OREANDA-NEWS. December 6, 2011. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Dusen Kaseinov received Dusen Kaseinov, General-Secretary of the Joint Administration of the Turkic Culture and Arts (TURKSOY) at the Oguzkhan palace complex.

Thanking the leader of the Turkmen state for finding time in his busy schedule to meet, the head of the regional organisation congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the recently celebrated 20th anniversary of independence and expressed the best wishes to citizens of Turkmenistan. Focusing on the outstanding achievements Turkmenistan had gained on the path of sovereign development which aroused the keen interest of the international community, the guest emphasized that these impressive accomplishments had become possible due to the rich spiritual traditions of the Turkmen people who had been cherishing their national culture for many millennia.

Cordially greeting the head of the regional organisation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that promoting cultural contacts was a key policy priority for Turkmenistan that had been pursuing the strategy for wide international cooperation in mutual interests since gaining independence.

Our brotherly nations have the common historical and spiritual roots, common cultural traditions, common values, said the Turkmen leader emphasizing that Turkmenistan would support all initiatives to promote mutual understanding between nations, encourage youth to study the common rich heritage and establish close contact in various spheres.

Focusing with satisfaction on the fruitfulness of the cultural dialogue built up on the firm foundation of the centuries-old ties of friendship and brotherhood between peoples in the region, the President of Turkmenistan and the TURKSOY General-Secretary discussed the major tasks to study, preserve and enrich common cultural values of Turkic peoples and promote them on global scale. The guest thanked the Turkmen leader for his constructive approach to building cooperation and particularly for his initiative to conduct the international festival and conference which was successfully put into life in April this year and turned into the bright festival of friendship in Ashgabat.

Specifying a number of steps to be taken to intensify fruitful contacts, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Dusen Kaseinov placed emphasis on the importance of conducting joint activities involving cultural and art workers of Turkic countries on a regular basis. These include music and theatre festivals, joint performances, concerts, fine and applied arts exhibitions, contests, anniversary festivities to mark remarkable dates, joint publication of books and calendars and many other activities.

Upon concluding the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the TURKSOY General-Secretary expressed belief that cooperation would be successfully furthered within the organisation which was to play the consolidating role for peoples in the region and to facilitate the integration of Turkic culture in world cultural space.
