Lukashenko to Chair Information Society Development Council
OREANDA-NEWS. November 10, 2011. The Information Society Development Council has been set up in Belarus. The Council will be chaired by the Head of State. On 8 November President of the Republic of Belarus signed Decree No. 515 "On Some Issues Relating to the Development of Information Society in the Republic of Belarus”, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service. The Council comprises representatives of state-run bodies, scientific and educational establishments, information and communication organizations (ICT companies).
Such agencies operate in many countries, including the Russian Federation, Germany, France, the Republic of Korea. According to the press service, the Council was created taking into consideration the increasing impact of information on social life and the need to enhance cooperation between various stakeholders in creating the information society in the country.
The Decree aims to raise the efficiency of implementing the government information policy by government agencies and organizations, create a unified electronic system of government services, and improve the regulation of information and communication technologies. The Decree provides for the merger of interagency information systems of various government bodies. These systems will be operated by the National Center of Electronic Services.
