OREANDA-NEWS. October 21, 2011. Dmitry Medvedev sent his greetings to participants of the VI Forum of Creative and Academic Intellectuals of the CIS Member States.

The message reads, in part:

“You have come together in the capital of Ukraine for your sixth Forum, to discuss multidisciplinary issues in humanitarian cooperation. Today, this is one of the most dynamically developing areas of business in the CIS, and it has rightly been recognised as a priority.

Indeed, significant opportunities are concentrated in this area, not only for dialogue between cultures, but also educational, science and technology cooperation between our nations, and ultimately, for the successful modernisation and innovative development of our economies. It is no accident that the central topics of the Forum – modern cultural policy and overall cultural and historical heritage – are also connected to issues of stable development within the Commonwealth and the formation of joint strategies aimed at maximising our citizens’ creative potential.

I believe it is exceedingly important for young people to participate actively in humanitarian cooperation. It will be up to them to develop and give new content to our traditionally close relations, and to strengthen their states and the CIS overall. I am certain that your meeting, held in the year that marks the 20th anniversary of the Commonwealth’s formation, will serve to further strengthen integration processes.”
