International Organization for Migration Visited Turkmenistan
OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2011. A delegation of the International Organization for Migration led by Eugenio Ambrosi, Senior Regional Advisor for Europe and Central Asia, who had arrived on a working visit to the Turkmen capital, was received in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting the representatives of the International Organization for Migration were briefed on key aspects of the domestic and foreign policies of the Turkmen state. In this context particular attention was paid to the large-scale progressive reforms launched on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in all spheres of life of the state and society.
It was noted that the speech of the President of Turkmenistan before of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly had testified once again to the importance and timeliness of the Turkmen leader’s international initiatives aimed at the peaceful and sustainable development of the region and the world. In particular, emphasis was put on the significance of the Turkmen leader’s proposal to carry out the work jointly with the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees on the introduction of Turkmenistan’s experience in granting citizenship to refugees and stateless persons and organize an International meeting involving all parties concerned in Ashgabat in 2012.
Exchanging views on the current state and prospects of cooperation, the members of the international organisation expressed the willingness to intensify further effective collaboration in this critical field.
