OREANDA-NEWS. October 3, 2011. An Austrian delegation led by Ursula Fahringer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Turkmenistan is on a working visit to the Turkmen capital these days.

During the visit to Ashgabat the guests were received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan where a lively exchange of views on the prospects for expanding further the Turkmen-Austrian dialogue based on equality and mutually beneficial cooperation took place.

Mrs. Ursula Fahringer said that Austria attached particular significance to diversifying multifaceted cooperation with Turkmenistan as a reliable and quite promising partner which bulwarked peace and stability in the Central Asian region. Underlining the importance of the constructive initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the sixty-sixth session of the UN General Assembly to address urgent problems of modern times, achieve peace and cohesion on regional and global scale, the diplomat noted that Austria highly evaluated the Turkmen leader’s new proposals.

Noting that the mutual interest in expanding traditional Turkmen-Austrian cooperation continuously increased, the meeting participants underscored the need to implement fully the existing tremendous potential of mutually beneficial partnership in the bilateral format as well as within the international structures, including the Turkmenistan-EU format.

In this context a focus of the meeting was the upcoming official visit of Federal President of the Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer to Turkmenistan. The issues regarding the package of bilateral documents to be signed in Ashgabat were discussed during the meeting.
