OREANDA-NEWS. September 8, 2011.  A telephone conversation took place on September 7 between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) Walid Muallem.

During their conversation they substantively discussed the situation in and around Syria with emphasis on the efforts now being undertaken by the Russian side in the interest of restoring normalcy in the SAR as soon as possible.

Muallem for his part briefed on the approaches of Damascus regarding the receiving in Syria of the Arab League Secretary General, Nabil al-Araby, as well as the discussion of Syria within the UN framework.
