Ambassador of Republic of Ireland Visits Turkmenistan
OREANDA-NEWS. March 29, 2011. The issues relate to promotion of Turkmen-Irish partnerships were on the agenda of a meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ireland to Turkmenistan Mr. Philip McDonagh.
The talks focused on the current state and prospects for developing bilateral cooperation based on mutual benefit. Evaluating positively the constructive foreign policy pursued by our country under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which had earned the Turkmen state the high prestige worldwide, Mr. Philip McDonagh emphasized that the Government of his country stood entirely for intensifying further fruitful partnership with Turkmenistan, where the dynamical reforms were taking place in all sectors of the national economy.
The meeting participants called for intensifying the dialogue between Turkmenistan and Ireland in the bilateral format as well as within the international structures, particularly the OSCE that the Republic of Ireland would hold chairmanship of starting from January 2012. Also, emphasis was put on the existing tremendous potential to expand cooperation and the further steps towards effective collaboration in the trade and economic, fuel and energy, agricultural, horse breeding and other sectors were considered.
Underscoring the keen interest in the ongoing social and economic transformations in Turkmenistan, the diplomat stated that the Irish business circles stood ready to operate on the Turkmen market where the conditions mostly conducive to business activity were created and to actively collaborate on large-scale national projects.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ireland to Turkmenistan was received at the Ministry of Education. The meting focused on the approaches to strengthening and expanding cooperation in the education sphere and humanitarian contacts as an essential component of interstate relationships.
