OREANDA-NEWS. March 23, 2011. According to the incoming information, late at night of 19–20 March the armed forces of the USA, Great Britain and France carried out massive bombing-missile strikes on different sites in Libya, including the suburbs of Tripoli. We have already given our opinion on this act, and it has not changed.

According to the information of Russia's Embassy in Tripoli, there are no casualties among the members of the diplomatic mission and the Russian citizens remaining in Libya. The staff of the Russian Embassy in Libya has been optimized with due account of the latest developments. A part of its members and other Russian citizens will be evacuated during the following days by motor vehicles through Tunisia.

We reiterate our demand for the participants of the military operation to ensure security of the Russian citizens including security of the evacuation convoys.
