OREANDA-NEWS. October 18, 2010. Sergey Vershinin, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Hesham Youssef, the chef de cabinet to the Secretary General of the Arab League, held on 14th October in Moscow a meeting of the Joint Committee formed in accordance with the Memorandum on the Establishment of the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum. The modalities of the preparation for the convening of the first session of the Forum at ministerial level were discussed.

There was also an in-depth exchange of views on the problem aspects of the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, focusing mainly on comparison of approaches to unblocking the Arab-Israeli settlement process, particularly with regard for the outcome of the Arab Peace Initiative Follow-up Committee’s ministerial meeting and the Extraordinary Arab Summit in Libya.
