President of Turkmenistan Attends Summit of Turkic Countries
OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2010. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is leaving for the Republic of Turkey, where he will participate in the summit of Turkic countries.
Standing steadfast to the policy of peace and good neighbourliness and abiding by the status of positive neutrality, Turkmenistan takes consistent efforts to intensify a political, economic and humanitarian dialogue with all countries of the world.
In recent years, Turkmenistan represented by its leader President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has put forward a number of important initiatives aimed at bringing regional and international cooperation to a new level. These initiatives involving particularly enhancement of peace and stability, formation of new architecture of global energy security, facilitation of disarmament, achievement of sustainable socio-economic development including through building new transcontinental energy, transport and communication corridors, establishing close partnership in the spheres of culture, science and education, have been widely supported by the international community.
Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Turkic countries bound with age-old spiritual, cultural, historical and linguistic affinities is filled with a qualitatively new content, thus becoming more fruitful and effective.
This is conditioned by the strategy for active integration in global system pursued by the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan’s economic potential enhanced particularly through implementing fundamental reforms and large-scale reform programmes and a real contribution that Turkmenistan makes to the practice of international relations.
The heads of Turkic states will exchange views on various aspects of versatile international cooperation during the summit in Istanbul.
