President of Turkmenistan Receives Special Envoy of U.S.
OREANDA-NEWS. August 03, 2010. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Richard Morningstar, Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Envoy of the U.S. Department of State in the fashionable Hazyna Hotel.
Expressing gratitude for the heartfelt welcome and hospitality extended in the Turkmen land, the guest conveyed the warm greetings of the leadership of his country to the Turkmen leader. The high-ranking official of the U.S. Department of State said that the United States attached paramount attention to the development of full-scale cooperation with Turkmenistan as a dependable and very promising partner in the Central Asian region.
Noting that the United States welcomed the progressive reforms and fundamental changes launched by the Turkmen leader, Richard Morningstar said that the United States in their turn were interested in strengthening further traditional contacts and stood ready for close collaboration on the principles of equality and mutual benefit. The priority fields of cooperation built on a long-term basis included the oil and gas sector that opened up the vast opportunities for partnership in the framework of Turkmenistan’s strategy for modernization and development of the fuel and energy sector.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that implementing consistently the energy strategy hydrocarbon-rich Turkmenistan was interested in developing the diversified and extended infrastructure of alternative routes for transit of Turkmen energy and stood ready to consider relevant constructive proposals. Evaluating highly considerable significance of large-scale energy projects initiated by Turkmenistan intending to place its profound resource potential at the service of the global community as well as its international initiatives aimed at ensuring security of transnational pipeline infrastructure in particular, the guest said that in their turn the United States stood ready to provide comprehensive support to large-scale projects launched by Turkmenistan.
Focusing on the mutual interest of the two friendly countries in intensifying traditional cooperation and more widely attracting the expertise and technologies of the U.S. leading companies, the Turkmen leader and his guest discussed the possibilities for intensifying fruitful cooperation in the other priority fields where the rich positive experience of collaboration had been accumulated.
In conclusion the President and the Special Envoy of the U.S. Department of State expressed belief that the Turkmen-U.S dialogue that had been brought to a new level due to concerted efforts meeting mutual interests would be effectively maintained further.
