OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2010. A telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel Avigdor Lieberman took place at the Israeli side’s initiative.

During the conversation the parties discussed topical aspects of the situation in the Middle East with emphasis on Arab-Israeli settlement-related problems.

There was underlined on our side the need for an early lifting of the Gaza blockade by Israel and real steps to alleviate the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Sergey Lavrov drew attention to the importance of collective actions with a view to advancing the Middle East negotiation process on the universally recognized international legal basis, which would guarantee peace, stability and security for Israel and all countries and peoples of the Middle East.
