OREANDA-NEWS. June 21, 2010. With the view of fostering Turkmenistan-EU cooperation a regular meeting was held in Ashgabat to exchange experiences in modernizing the national human rights legislation.

The members of the delegation led by Silvia Escobar, Ambassador at large for Human Rights of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital, the representatives of the Mejlis, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Institute of State and Law under the President of Turkmenistan and journalists took part in the meeting held at the Turkmen Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan

The meeting participants evaluated highly the value of positive experience of collaboration accumulated in the context of the democratic reforms initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov that provided for active partnership between Turkmenistan and the authoritative international organisations including the European Union in the field of human rights.

Upon concluding the meeting the participants called for continuing traditional fruitful cooperation in the framework of the Turkmenistan-EU dialogue.
