OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2010. At the initiative of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, his telephone conversation with Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov took place on June 15.

They discussed the situation in Kyrgyzstan in connection with the inter-ethnic conflict in the south of the country. The Russian side expressed concern over the loss of life among civilians and the appearance of a significant number of refugees in the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border area. Lavrov briefed Ban in detail about the efforts of the Russian leadership to stabilize the situation in Kyrgyzstan and about the appropriate work in the framework of the CSTO.
