OREANDA-NEWS. June 11, 2010. A telephone conversation took place on June 9 between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Katsuya Okada.

Lavrov congratulated his Japanese counterpart on his re-appointment as head of the foreign affairs agency in the Japanese Cabinet of Ministers formed on June 8 led by Prime Minister Naoto Kan.

The parties expressed mutual readiness for further joint work for the sustained development of Russian-Japanese relations, including political dialogue, mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation and collaborative efforts in the international arena. Discussion of the peace treaty problem will also be continued.
