Russian President Held Meeting on Judicial System Development
OREANDA-NEWS. June 03, 2010. In his opening remarks at the meeting, Dmitry Medvedev proposed discussing ways to make court proceedings more effective. The matters examined included proposals for improving the work of the Constitutional Court and general jurisdiction courts, changes to tax and civil-procedural legislation giving tax authorities the right to collect taxes, fees, penalties and fines within set limits without a court decision, and new legislation on economic crimes.
Taking part in the meeting were President of the Constitutional Court Valery Zorkin, President of the Supreme Court Vyacheslav Lebedev, President of the Supreme Arbitration Court Anton Ivanov, Prosecutor-General Yury Chaika, Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Naryshkin, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Vladislav Surkov, Presidential Aide and Chief of the Presidential State-Legal Directorate Larisa Brychyova, and Presidential Adviser Veniamin Yakovlev.
