Russian, Polish Foreign Ministers’ Joint Appeal to European Commission
OREANDA-NEWS. April 07, 2010. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Poland, guided by the task of further strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields and expanding the range of measures aimed at facilitating contacts between the citizens of our countries, and generally of Russia and the EU member countries, have adopted a joint appeal to the European Commission to improve the existing internal rules of the EU (Regulation No. 1931/2006) on local movement for residents of the 30-50 km border zone.
It is about extending the provisions of a Russian-Polish intergovernmental agreement being prepared on procedures governing mutual trips for border-area residents to the entire Kaliningrad Region and in appropriate degree to the adjacent areas of Poland.
The Russian-Polish declaration signed by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs today, April 6, 2010, has been jointly submitted in Brussels by the representatives of Russia and Poland to the EU to the European Commission.
