Dmitry Medvedev Holds Meeting on Judicial System Development
OREANDA-NEWS. March 30, 2010. In his opening remarks, the President touched on the subject of improving legislation aimed at preventing acts of terrorism, on the work of various departments charged with investigating such crimes, and on transportation security and safety of people in crowded places. Dmitry Medvedev said that in the near future meetings concerning changes in legislation in these areas will be held.
The meeting discussed various practical issues pertaining to judicial procedure, in particular the introduction of simplified pre-trial procedures in criminal cases involving minor crimes.
The meeting was attended by Supreme Court Chairman Vyacheslav Lebedev, Supreme Arbitration Court Chairman Anton Ivanov, Prosecutor General Yury Chaika, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Naryshkin, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Vladislav Surkov, Presidential Aide and Head of the State Legal Department in the Presidential Executive Office Larisa Brychyova, and Presidential Aide Veniamin Yakovlev.
