Dmitry Medvedev Held Meeting on Improving Judicial System
OREANDA-NEWS. February 04, 2010. President Medvedev noted the dynamic development of judicial legislation and expressed hope that the measures for its modernisation will enhance the independence of judges and increase the transparency of the judicial system. In addition, the President noted the significance of improving the judicial system for modernising Russia’s economy and improving investment climate in the country.
During the meeting, the President also announced the signing of the Federal Law on ratifying Protocol 14 to the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
The meeting was attended by Constitutional Court Chairman Valery Zorkin, Supreme Court Chairman Vyacheslav Lebedev, Supreme Arbitration Court Chairman Anton Ivanov, Prosecutor General Yury Chaika, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Naryshkin, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Vladislav Surkov, and Deputy Head of the Presidential State Legal Directorate Sergei Komissarov.
