The two leaders exchanged congratulations for the New Year.

They also noted significant advances in developing multifaceted Russian-Italian relations, accomplished in 2009 through joint efforts.

Both parties specifically welcomed high effectiveness of the bilateral interstate consultations which took place in Rome in December and expressed their confidence in the successful realisation of the substantial potential for the cooperation of the two countries in 2010 and subsequent years.
