OREANDA-NEWS. December 8, 2009. The second meeting of the Russian-American Presidential Commission’s working group on arms control and international security was held in Moscow on December 7 under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov and US Under Secretary of State Ellen Tauscher.

The meeting examined questions of increasing Russian-US collaborative efforts in the nonproliferation field, with special emphasis given to the task of successfully holding the NPT Review Conference in May 2010. In addition, it touched upon issues relating to further limitations and reductions of strategic offensive arms and upon countering the proliferation of missile technologies.
