OREANDA-NEWS. November 23, 2009. Azerbaijani health minister Ogtay Shiraliyev has received Italian ambassador Maro Baldini to the country.

In the course of the meeting the parties accorded the Memorandum of Understanding in the area of public health care and medical science.

“There were also prepared proposals for joint scientific research works in the areas of oncology with Italian specialists,” Shiraliyev said.

Baldini said that the date of signing of the Memo was postponed because of administrative changes in the Ministry of Health of Italy.

“I meet positively Azerbaijan’s co-operation proposals and import of pharmaceutical preparations and medical technologies in Azerbaijan from Italy,” the ambassador said.

Azerbaijan and Italy already have ties in the area of medical sciences and public health care. In particular, Azerbaijani students pass education in the Rome-based La Sapienza University. Besides, recently Azerbaijan’s newly-constructed hospitals were delivered medical facilities from Italy.
