Belarus President Considering Government Personnel Changes
OREANDA-NEWS. November 02, 2009. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is considering the possibility of personnel changes in the government. The press service of the head of said, on 30 October President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held a cabinet meeting to review the country’s social and economic development in January-September 2009 as well as the draft social and economic development forecast, the budget bill and major monetary management guidelines for 2010.
Alexander Lukashenko requested Belarus President Administration head Vladimir Makei to prepare proposals on personnel decisions regarding cabinet members.
“The life goes on as if there was no crisis. They use the cars they did before the crisis, they travel to the destinations they did before the crisis. Food and apparel haven’t changed either,” remarked the head of state.
“Nobody has lived in the crisis yet apart from common people who are only suggested to get utilities tariffs raised either by USD 5 or USD 10 now and then,” said the President. “Don’t come to me asking for higher tariffs. Find ways to reduce prime costs. Get to work on increasing labor productivity”.
“I am warning ministers that I have started listening to each personally,” reminded Alexander Lukashenko.
“I would like the governors to work closer with their territories. Industry is question number one. Starting tomorrow the governors should personally lead the campaign to unload warehouses of all enterprises,” said the President. “They should do their best. If you can’t, tell me so. I will find other people who can. But the decisions I have made are the law for everyone present here”.
