OREANDA-NEWS. July 09, 2009. Azerbaijan and Syria signed several documents following talks between the two countries` delegations chaired by Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Bashar al-Assad.

An “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Government of the Syrian Arab Republic for removal of visa requirements for the holders of diplomatic, service and special passports”; “Agreement on cultural cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Government of the Syrian Arab Republic”; a “Memorandum of Understanding to set up a joint commission on economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Government of the Syrian Arab Republic”; an “Agreement on cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Government of the Syrian Arab Republic in the fields of energy and industry”; and an “Agreement for the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Government of the Syrian Arab Republic” were signed.
