OREANDA-NEWS. July 1, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko.

The Ukrainian leader heartily congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the birthday and wished good health and every success in the large-scale work for the benefit of the Turkmen people.

Cordially thanking the Ukrainian leader for the heartfelt congratulations and wishes Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed belief that the deep roots of friendship and cooperation between Turkmenistan and Ukraine would serve the interests of the two peoples and be enhanced and expanded.

Exchanging views on the current condition and prospects for development of the intergovernmental relations as well as other issues of mutual interest the sides focused on the need for partnership in the framework of the international organisations, the United Nations in particular. In this regard emphasis was put on the need to concert efforts to achieve energy security – an essential component of global peace and wellbeing.

To intensify the fruitful dialogue the Presidents agreed to instruct the foreign ministries to start the preparations for the leaders’ visits. The dates of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s visit to Ukraine would be adjusted through the diplomatic channels.

Viktor Yushchenko would visit Turkmenistan this September. At the invitation of the Turkmen leader the President of Ukraine would attend the ceremony of putting the railway bridge across the Amu Darya River into operation. The bridge was constructed by the Ukrainian companies.

In conclusion the leaders expressed the wishes of happiness and wellbeing to the peoples of the two countries.
