OREANDA-NEWS. July 1, 2009. Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani’s parliament) is ready to raise it responsibility for settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Garabagh conflict.

At today’s session Musavat (Equality) opposition party’s MP Nasib Nasibli stated that he intended to submit to the Milli Majlis management  a draft law on increasing the role of the legislative body in conflict settlement.

“Increase of Milli Majlis’s role in Garabagh issue is necessary as this problem has remained unsettled for a long time. The MPs should prepare a draft decision on the occasion. A document we have drafted stipulates that executive power should develop and submit a national program on Garabagh for approval of parliament. In its turn, Milli Majlis should conduct discussions at the end of the year within this national programme,” Nasibli said.

Armenia is occupying 20% of Azerbaijani territory following the conflict.  Ceasefire has been applied between the two countries since 1994.
