NATO Thanks President Adamkus for Commitment to Alliance
OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2009. As Valdas Adamkus' second presidential term is coming to an end, the NATO Secretary General has expressed deep appreciation for his dedication to the North Atlantic Alliance.
"Under your leadership, Lithuania has become a dedicated member of NATO. Your country's ever growing contribution to NATO's operations and missions, particularly in Afghanistan, is invaluable, and matched by your personal commitment to maintaining NATO as the primary forum for discussing political and security issues of interest to the transatlantic community. I am particularly grateful for you contribution to our discussions during NATO Heads of State and Government meetings," Jaap de Hoop Scheffer wrote in his letter.
Jaap de Hoop Scheffer expressed hope to have the chance to thank President Adamkus in person for his support and commitment when he paid a farewell visit to Lithuania in July.
