OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2009. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov received on June 1 the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Badr Al Busaidi, who is in Moscow for a regular round of Russian-Omani political consultations.

The two exchanged views on topical issues in bilateral cooperation in various fields and emphasized the mutual disposition to bolster Russian-Omani collaborative efforts in trade, joint economic and investment projects, energy, infrastructure and tourism, particularly with regard for the accords reached when Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs visited Muscat in February this year.

The sides discussed international and regional problems of mutual concern, paying special attention to the tasks of consolidating long-term peace and security in the Gulf area, settling tensions around the Iranian nuclear program by politico-diplomatic means and resuming the Middle East peace process.
