OREANDA-NEWS. May 22, 2009. Energy security in Europe and overcoming the global financial crisis were the main subjects of discussion.

Among the issues examined during the talks were the Russian President’s initiative to draw up a new European security treaty, Russian-EU cooperation issues, Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organisation, and the Middle East peace process.

Following the talks, Dmitry Medvedev and the European Union representatives – President of the European Union Council Vaclav Klaus, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso, and Secretary-General of the European Union Council Javier Solana – gave a joint news conference.
