OREANDA-NEWS. May 14, 2009. A telephone conversation took place on May 12 between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and the FRG Vice Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The main attention was devoted to Middle East settlement problems in the light of the outcomes of the UN Security Council ministerial meeting on May 11, and to the disarmament and WMD nonproliferation situation in the context of the realization of the course towards a positive resetting of Russian-US relations. The intention was reiterated to continue close collaboration between Russia and Germany on these issues.

Some questions of the bilateral agenda were touched upon, with emphasis on the preparation and content-filling of upcoming meetings in the framework of the actively developing political dialogue between Russia and Germany.
