OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Sultan bin Mohammad Bin Saud Al-Kabir Al-Saud, CEO of Al-Mara Joint Stock Company, Managing Director of Yamama Saudi Cement Co.

The guest conveyed the heartfelt greetings and best wishes of King of Saudi Arabia Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud to the Turkmen leader.

Expressing the cordial wishes to the head of the friendly country Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused with satisfaction on the high level of mutual understanding and confidence between Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia. The President emphasized that the bilateral relations were based on the historical, cultural and spiritual affinities of the peoples of two countries bound by a common aspiration for peace and wellbeing.

During the meeting Sultan bin Mohammad Bin Saud Al-Kabir Al-Saud focused on intense interest showed by Saudi Arabian large business in cooperation with dynamically developing Turkmenistan, briefed on the activities of the companies he represented and put forward a number of the concrete proposals on establishment of fruitful collaboration. In particular these included the opportunities to implement investment projects, cooperate in production of cement and other construction materials as well as in agricultural sector including stock raising, grain and fodder growing.

Noting that these proposals were consistent with the priorities of Turkmenistan’s social and economic policy Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the Arabian partners to consider the opportunities for collaboration in a number of the large-scale national projects. In this regard the sides exchanged views on the perspectives of cooperation emphasizing that it was aimed at enhancing the ties of sincere friendship and fraternity between two states and nations.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Turkmenistan Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Al-Ghadir attended the meeting.
