OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the credential letters of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Turkmenistan Mohammad Fazel Saifi.

Presenting the credential letters to the Turkmen leader the diplomat conveyed the heartfelt greetings of President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the wishes of peace and happiness to the Turkmen people.

Thanking for the cordial greetings and expressed the best wishes to the Afghani leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated Mr. Mohammad Fazel Saifi on appointing to the high diplomatic post and wished him success in the performing the noble mission to enhance Turkmen-Afghani cooperation.

Focusing on the traditionally friendly character of the intergovernmental relations the President noted that the Turkmen people always supported the fraternal Afghani people whom they were bound with the age-old historical and spiritual affinities. Standing as a priority of Turkmenistan’s policy enhancement of close contacts and fruitful cooperation with the neighbouring countries including Afghanistan was to maintain peace and stability in the region, to become an essential factor of peoples’ welfare.

Expressing deep satisfaction at the dynamics of the intergovernmental dialogue which had been filled with a new quality and content the sides exchanged views on the progress in developing the bilateral relations and perspectives of mutually advantageous cooperation. Taking an opportunity the diplomat expressed gratitude to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Turkmen people for support and assistance in Afghanistan’s economic and cultural revival. In this regard Mr. Mohammad Fazel Saifi provided the concrete examples of Turkmenistan’s disinterested aid including laying power transmission lines, supply of electric power on favourable terms, construction of social facilities including schools and hospitals, training local specialists, etc. The guest said that the Afghani people highly valued its relations with the fraternal Turkmen people.

In conclusion Mr. Mohammad Fazel Saifi thanked Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the opportunity of a personal meeting and assured the Turkmen leader that he would spare no effort to further develop and enhance the intergovernmental contacts, the ties of friendship and fraternity between the Afghani and the Turkmen peoples.
