OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2009. On the instructions of the President of Turkmenistan Speaker of the Mejlis A. Nurberdyeva received the credential letters of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Turkmenistan Shemi Tsur.

On behalf of the Turkmen leader the head of the national Parliament congratulated the guest on appointing the high diplomatic post and wished success in enhancing the ties of friendship and cooperation between Turkmenistan and Israel.

Thanking for the cordial wishes the diplomat emphasized that he considered it great honour to represent his country in the state whose peace loving policy won the high prestige worldwide.

During the meeting the Ambassador was briefed on the major trends in Turkmenistan’s national and foreign policies, the priorities of the large-scale reforms, in particular the social programmes aimed at increasing the people’s welfare and improving the lifestyle of the Turkmen people, initiated by the leader of the Turkmen state and successfully implemented throughout the country.

Ambassador Shemi Tsur was briefed on the structure and activity of the Turkmen Parliament.

Exchanging views on the very promising fields of intergovernmental cooperation the sides focused on the vast opportunities of collaboration in tourism industry, agriculture and humanitarian sphere.

The diplomat noted that the business circles in Israel showed keen interest in cooperating with Turkmenistan that had the profound resource and economic potential.

Expressing admiration for the scale of the ongoing reforms in Turkmenistan the Ambassador wished peace and wellbeing to the leader and people of Turkmenistan.
