Russia to Ratify Agreements Collective Security Treaty Organisation
OREANDA-NEWS. April 6, 2009. The first agreement between the Russian Federation and the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) stipulates the conditions for the Organisation’s headquarters’ presence on Russian soil. It was signed in Moscow on November 26, 2007.
The second agreement regulates the provision under preferential terms of special equipment and supplies for the CSTO countries’ law enforcement agencies and intelligence services.
The third agreement sets out the procedures for operational deployment, use of and comprehensive support for the Collective Rapid Reaction Force in the Central Asian collective security region. The agreement, signed in Minsk on June 23, 2006, sets out the legal provisions for the force’s command, functioning, operational deployment and comprehensive support.
The Collective Rapid Reaction Force in Central Asia was established in 2001. It is integrated as a regional sub-system into the overall CSTO collective security system.
The Collective Security Treaty Organisation members are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
