OREANDA-NEWS. April 4, 2009. Enhancement of trade and economic cooperation was one of the key topics of the talks. The two leaders discussed prospects for cooperation in high-tech industry, especially in energy sector, as well as in mechanical engineering, metallurgy, transportation, information technology, military, technical and humanitarian spheres.

Following the talks, Dmitry Medvedev and Michelle Bachelet issued a joint statement.

An agreement on military cooperation between the defence ministries of Russia and Chile and a framework agreement on cultural cooperation in 2009-2011 between the Russian Ministry of Culture and the National Council for Culture and Arts of the Republic of Chile were signed in the presence of the heads of state.

After the talks Mr Medvedev and Ms Bachelet made statements for the press and answered questions from journalists.
