OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the credential letters from Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Romania to Turkmenistan Radu Liviu Horumba.

Presenting the credential letters and thanking the Turkmen leader for the opportunity of a personal meeting the diplomat conveyed the heartfelt greetings and best wishes of President of Romania Traian Basescu emphasizing that the leadership of his country attached paramount importance to developing the intergovernmental dialogue which had been filled with a qualitatively new content in recent years. The guest said that Romania was keenly interested in and respected the Turkmen leader’s progressive policy which provided new opportunities for development and had won Turkmenistan the high international prestige.

Thanking for the heartfelt greetings and expressing the best wishes to the President of Romania Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated Mr. Radu Liviu Horumba on the appointment to the high diplomatic post and wished success in his new work. The President said that the to the friendly European country last July had left the warmest impressions of Romania and its hospitable people

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Mr. Radu Liviu Horumba exchanged views on the key aspects of cooperation in the bilateral format as well as the framework of the actively developed dialogue between Turkmenistan and the European Union. The sides highly appreciated the countries’ adherence to the agreements aimed at enhancing and expanding cooperation in such priority fields as fuel and energy sector, transport and communication, industry and construction, agricultural and trade. Humanitarian partnership was mentioned as an important trend. In this regard the President expressed deep satisfaction at Romania’s constructive approach to educational cooperation noting that today dozens of the Turkmen students acquired knowledge at the leading institutions of higher education in Romania.

Emphasizing that Turkmen-Romanian partnership had the profound potential and met the interests of both peoples the sides called for full-scale implementation in compliance with the priorities of collaboration dynamically expanded between Turkmenistan and the European Union where Romania played an important role. In this context emphasis was put on the significance of the business and cultural contacts as an essential factor for establishing the climate of mutual understanding and confidence between the peoples.

Expressing deep gratitude to the Turkmen leader for the opportunity of a personal meeting and effective conversation the diplomat assured the President that he would spare no effort to enhance and develop the intergovernmental relationships and mutually advantageous cooperation between the peoples of Romania and Turkmenistan who aspired to peace and friendship.
