OREANDA-NEWS. March 11, 2009. Among the subjects discussed were the results of regional and municipal elections on March 1, and the tasks before newly elected deputies in the ongoing financial and economic crisis. 

Discussions examined in particular the implementation of the Federal Law on General Principles for the Organisation of Local Government, which took full effect from January 1 this year, and the presidential initiative for giving local government assemblies greater supervisory powers. This initiative would give deputies the right to remove municipal heads from office.
