OREANDA-NEWS. On 03 March 2009 was announced, that in St.-Petersburg Head of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov has met with the Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in the Northwest Federal District Ilya Klebanov.

It was a scheduled working meeting during which Sergey Katanandov has told the representative of the President about the state of affairs in Karelia, about the crisis phenomena development and their influence on economy as a whole and on some enterprises. Ilya Klebanov was interested to learn about the anti-recessionary measures undertaken by the Government of Karelia, in particular creation of the guarantee pledge fund by which means access of small and medium business to the bank credits will be facilitated essentially. Besides, Head of Karelia has addressed to Ilya Klebanov with the request to help to influence banks to reconsider their unfairly steep interest rates towards decreasing.

According to the governor of Karelia, Ilya Klebanov supported the anti-recessionary actions implemented in the republic and promised to assist on all the issues mentioned.
