OREANDA-NEWS. December 30, 2008. A telephone conversation took place on December 29 between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

The subject of discussion was the situation in the Gaza Strip in connection with Israel’s large-scale military operation undertaken there. The sides called for an immediate halt to violence and a return to the lull. An exchange of views was held on the coordination of efforts to facilitate ending the violent confrontation, which would create conditions for continuing the negotiation process.
