On October 31, a telephone conversation between Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov and British Foreign Secretary David Miliband took place at the British side’s initiative. Certain international themes were discussed, including the Middle East settlement process in the context of the preparations for the planned meeting on November 9 in Sharm El Sheikh of the Quartet of international mediators with the participation of the Palestinian and Israeli sides, as well as certain issues in Russian-British relations.
